Remove the battery for 20 seconds and then place it back in. To remove the battery, use a flat-head screwdriver to open the cover from the slit on the left side of the remote. Make sure to remove the battery for the above specified time. After the full 20 seconds, place the battery back into the remote and pair the Smart Switch to the app.
